Why add a Karl Taylor to your collection?
Karl Taylor’s work offers a deeply reflective view of the natural world, seen through the eyes of a seasoned wildlife artist with a lifelong passion for ornithology.  For collectors, his art delivers both visual elegance and a deeper narrative about our shared environment, making each piece a striking and meaningful addition to any space.

About Karl’s work
Karl’s paintings explore the delicate balance between nature and industry, often depicting small birds juxtaposed with large-scale urban or coastal structures. His use of scale and muted tones creates a quiet tension that invites closer observation. The harbours, waterways, and industrial edges around Bristol and Severn Beach feature prominently in his work, anchoring it in a specific geography while also speaking to broader environmental themes. His compositions feel intimate yet expansive—anchored in realism, but rich with mood and meaning.

Styling Ideas
Karl’s artwork brings a grounded, contemplative energy to a room. Ideal for spaces that embrace natural textures, muted palettes, or industrial aesthetics, his paintings add depth without overwhelming a space. Whether displayed in a modern loft, a coastal retreat, or a traditional home, Karl’s work pairs beautifully with neutral tones, weathered woods, and minimalist furnishings. These are pieces that invite reflection and reward repeated viewing—perfect for quiet corners, reading nooks, or gallery walls.

About the artist
Born in Penzance in the 1960s, Karl Taylor grew up surrounded by the raw beauty of the Cornish coast. His early fascination with birds evolved into a formal interest in ornithology, which continues to shape his artistic practice today. After studying at Carmarthenshire College of Art and Technology—where he received an award for outstanding achievement—Karl settled in Bristol and built a career as a freelance illustrator and painter. His work has been exhibited at the Bristol Museum and Art Gallery and recognised internationally with multiple selections for the renowned Birds in Art exhibition in the U.S.
